THERE is no place for unethical behaviour for officers in public institutions, says Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.
In The Fiji Times’ A Conversation with the PM column, Mr Rabuka reiterated Minister for Policing Ioane Naivalurua’s view on unethical behaviour within the Fiji Police Force adding the policy applied to every civil servant.
“I fully agree with Minister Naivalurua’s statement that there is no place for unethical behaviour in our institutions, whether within the Fiji Police Force or any other branch of the public service,” said Mr Rabuka.
“Ethics and integrity must be at the heart of every decision made from the highest levels of government down to the local public servants who serve our people daily.
“The Government’s zero tolerance policy on unethical conduct is not just limited to the police force but extends to every sector of the public service.”
He said they understood the vital importance of ensuring that ethical conduct and transparency were maintained across all areas of government and public duty.
“We will ensure that ethical standards are applied consistently across all levels of the public service.
“No individual or institution will be above the law, and all public servants will be expected to serve with honour, fairness and transparency.
“The people of Fiji deserve a public service that serves with integrity and accountability, and we are committed to making that are a reality for every Fijian.”
