THE Government’s slogan of ‘Change is here’ has rung hollow for Ba Market vendors who now face crippling increases in car parking fees, says Deputy Opposition Leader Parveen Bala.

In a statement, Mr Bala said the fee increased without consultation from the initial 15 cents to $2 per hour.

Mr Bala said many Ba residents, particularly vendors and farmers, would buckle from the impact this recent decision would have on their finances.

“Where is the cost of living relief this government promised?”

Mr Bala said the recent budget announcements as relief for power was all talk and no show.

Mr Bala called for an immediate suspension of the new fees until proper consultations are conducted.

Council CEO Manjula Devi and special administrator Moshim Khan said they would issue a statement.
