Nasinu, QVS set for rematch

It will be a repeat of last year’s final as Nasinu Secondary School prepares to take on defending champions Queen Victoria School in the Vodafone Super Deans under-18 quarter-final this Saturday.

Nasinu will be seeking redemption after their 13-27 loss in last year’s final, while QVS is determined to secure a historic three-peat title defense.

In a strong display of their attacking prowess, Nasinu sent a resounding message to their opponents with a dominant 57-10 victory over Nabala Secondary School in the playoffs over the weekend.

Assistant Principal of Nasinu Secondary School, Dan Vakamoce, acknowledged Nabala’s competitive spirit and commended them for their performance in the match.

“The match it was fair playing against Nabala, it was a good opportunity for us to test our playing system, we respect Nabala for the good game,” said Vakamoce.

Reflecting on their journey to this crucial quarterfinal, Vakamoce highlighted the team’s resilience and determination following their loss in the zone semi-final against Suva Grammar.

He adds the team has regrouped, refocused, and strategised for the match against Nabala, utilising the opportunity to fine-tune their gameplay and address any areas of improvement.

With their focus now shifted towards the upcoming showdown against QVS, Vakamoce emphasized the importance of returning to the drawing board and analyzing their mistakes

“We are now focused on the game against the defending champions QVS, we will be going back to our drawing board, and we will analyse our mistakes.

“We have played them in the finals last year, they are a tough side, coming into the national they don’t treat this quarter-final lightly, even for us we will also try to up our communications for the boys and try to verify our game, before Saturday.”

Vakamoce called upon supporters, old scholars, and all stakeholders to rally behind the team and show their unwavering support in this crucial match.

With a spot in the semi-finals at stake, Nasinu is determined to put forward their best performance and leave it all on the field against QVS.

QVS will take on Nasinu at 5.10pm this Saturday at Churchill Park 1, Lautoka.
