THE outpouring of support by Labasa fans for not just their home team but for other teams in the 2025 Extra Battle of the Giants has been applauded by Fiji FA chief executive Mohammed Yusuf.

Yusuf commended the loud, passionate and vocal support shown by the fans from the Babasiga Town, as their team booked a semi-final spot against Navua this Saturday in the first semi-final.

“The fact that the fans enjoyed football and they were supporting some of the younger, smaller teams by cheering for them, which is good,” Yusuf pointed out.

“They not only waited for the Labasa match, they were totally involved in the other matches played.

More than 13,000 fans crossed the gates into Subrail Park in Labasa during the first three days of competition.

He added the home crowd cheered on other teams such as Lautoka, Ba, Nadroga for instance.

“I must thank the Labasa fans for being so passionate about the game, and everybody was a winner,” he said.

Besides the backing of fans for various teams, competition during the three days saw fans and spectators engage in interactive halftime activities such as shots at goal, t-shirt toss sessions, bubble ball and karaoke.

Those halftime activities were done in partnership with tournament sponsor Extra Supermarket.

Meanwhile, the semi-finals of the Battle of the Giants take place this Saturday at Subrail Park once again.

The grand final is scheduled for 3pm on Sunday at the same venue.
