Between 26 July and 22 August 2025, Singapore is hosting the World Aquatics (WA) Championships, that includes next week the WA Masters Championships. Approximately 6,000 athletes aged 25-plus from 100 countries across swimming, diving, water-polo and artistic swimming will be participating.

Fiji’s delegation will be the Dolphin Masters, a squad of ten former senior internationals of whom many were members of the original Dolphin Swimming Club established in the 1970s:

• Sharon Smith – competed at the 1982 and 1986 Commonwealth Games, 1984, 1988, 1992 Olympic Games and all the Pacific Games in between from 1987-1991, specialising in backstroke, National Fiji Coach since 1992

• Jodie Browne – niece of Sharon Smith currently based in the UK.

• Shayne Sorby – 1991 South Pacific Games, 1986 Sportswoman of the Year at age of 10 years, currently based in Singapore

• Harvie, Merran and Lyndall Probert – siblings who collected medals for Fiji at various South Pacific Games.

• Carl Probert – five-time Olympian (1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008), Commonwealth Games representative 1998-2006 and multi Pacific Games Gold medalist 1991-2007, who still holds a few Fiji national records.

• Terrence Erasito – former World Aquatics representative.

• Sandra Bernklau – currently based in Cambodia.

• Tracy Powell – Pacific Games breaststroke medallist.

Paula Cokanasiga is coach of the group, supported by Angela Probert, Charles and Josephine St Julian.

Lyndall Fisher, Sports Development Manager at FASANOC, noted that the trip is “part of a get together of former swimmers across the different years to have a bit of fun and re-live competition but in a modern day setting’.
