Fiji is grieving the sudden passing of George “Fiji” Veikoso, a beloved son of the nation and Pacific, said Minister for Tourism Viliame Gavoka in Parliament today.
He said Mr Veikoso was a true cultural ambassador.
“His sudden passing is a great loss to our nation and region,” Mr Gavoka said.
“His 2024 Homecoming Concert, one of the largest musical events Fiji has ever hosted, drew thousands from across the Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, and beyond.”
“The event was a national moment of pride, significantly boosting Fiji’s tourism targets and showcasing the nation’s capacity for world-class gatherings.”
Mr Gavoka said he knew Mr Veikoso personally.
“I’ve known him since his youth. May his memory live on, and may his music continue to inspire.”
