The Lautoka High Court ruled that Justin Ho used a network of “struggling businesses” as a front to launder proceeds from illicit drug operations.
Judge Aruna Aluthge said in his July 31 ruling this confirmed the charge of possession of proceeds of crime against Mr Ho.
The Court heard evidence that Subzero Car Wash, run by Justin Ho was closed since early December 2023 due to broken equipment, while the adjoining café shut down after business partners pulled out.
The barbershop, though operational, was reportedly underperforming.
The judge said despite the visible decline in operations, Justin Ho was seen spending lavishly—on alcohol, golf, and nightclubs.
“He was known as a ‘funny man’ who lived large without any visible income,” the Court noted.
Further evidence revealed that Mr Ho dealt exclusively in cash and kept money out of the banking system.
He failed to produce funds for a court-ordered bail bond and did not make FNPF contributions for employees.
“Yet, he invited a Cabinet Minister to officiate the launch of his barbershop, leading even associates like Louie to believe he was legitimate.:
“The only logical conclusion is that Justin Ho used these businesses as a front to mask the illicit origin of his money,” said Justice Aluthge.
