Many families are still without electricity at Raukanace in Tabia, Vanua Levu, despite earlier promises.
A concerned resident, Amelia, said under the previous government, only five families in the area were assisted.
“There are a lot of families left to be powered with electricity,” she said.
Ms Amelia said a staff of Energy Fiji Ltd began a survey in January this year to assess which homes needed electricity connections.
However, she claimed that the surveyor never returned.
“We have not seen the surveyor again.”
Residents are now unsure when help will arrive.
Infrastructure Minister Naisa Tuinaceva confirmed that the situation is being looked into.
He said action would be taken soon to continue the electrification program.
The affected families are hopeful that the government will follow through and provide the much-needed power to improve their living conditions.
