FIJI football’s golden boy Roy Krishna is pleading with all district reps to stay away from drugs.
This was one major area that needed major improvement according to Krishna.
He said time and again during tournaments, the Fiji FA would report positive cases of drug use from players and this is something that is hindering the progress of the sport in the country.
“No drugs please. I think it is something that we look forward to in every tournament and you can see a few players still testing positive,” he said.
The national football captain who played in the Indian Super League reminded players of the implications of drug use on themselves, their career and in the community.
“In sports, drugs is a no no so I hope and pray that this tournament is drug free.
“I just want the boys to know that drugs will not take you anywhere. It’s not good for yourself, for your family as well so if you want to play long term, please avoid drugs.”
Krishna was at Subrail Park in Labasa to witness that Extra Battle of the Giants being played at his home turf after a lapse of 23 years.
“It’s always good because normally northern fans don’t get this privilege and for that I want to thank Fiji Football for doing this for the northern people. I hope a lot of fans come and support our boys, no rain so this could be a successful tournament,” he said.
Krishna looks forward to seeing how the national players shape up in this tournament and the opportunities that younger players will get.
