THE 69th Miss Hibiscus Festival will take place from August 23 to 30 at the Suva Civic Foreshore.

Festival committee chairperson and Suva City Council acting CEO Tevita Boseiwaqa confirms preparations are now underway and called on businesses and organisations to submit their contestants for this year’s event.

“It’s an opportunity not only to showcase brand visibility but to support young women who are passionate about the issues affecting our communities,” he said.

The festival, he said, would place particular focus on issues such as drug awareness, homelessness, and the ongoing fight against HIV/AIDS.

“The festival continues to be a meaningful platform where young women are empowered to speak on real and pressing social issues.

“It’s a community-driven space that nurtures leadership, public speaking, and social awareness.”

The eight-day festival will feature public speaking engagements, community activities, and themed presentations.

“Each contestant represents more than a sash, she represents the hopes, values, and dreams of the community she walks for,” Mr Boseiwaqa said.

Alongside the pageant, visitors can enjoy the Hibiscus Food Village, showcasing a range of local and international cuisine, as well as entertainment for all ages.

To businesses and sponsors across Suva and Fiji, Mr Boseiwaqa extended an invitation to “Enter a contestant. Be part of something bigger than branding. Champion a voice. Support a movement. And help shape the next generation of change makers”.
