NEARLY 3200 tickets have been sold ahead of the start of the Extra Battle of the Giants 2025, kicking off today at Subrail Park in Labasa.
This is the word from Fiji Football Association chief executive Mohammed Yusuf, who said its indicative of fans taking advantage of the online ticket sales to avoid queuing up outside the park this weekend.
He added the fans and spectators from the Babasiga Town have made up a large number in these sales, a sign of the hosts unrivalled banking on their home turf.
Yusuf thanked them for taking advantage of the opportunity to buy tickets, as the home team prepares to face Ba tonight at 6.30pm.
“We want to also thank the fans in Labasa for taking advantage of the online tickets selling and as I speak, almost 3200 tickets have been sold for the three days,” Yusuf said.
He added these ticket sales, coupled with the park’s total seating capacity of 7500 spectators, meant a lot of tickets were still up for grabs.
And for those fans who bought their tickets online, he said they would be given easy access to head directly to their seats to avoid the long queues.
He said the response from fans and supporters was great and expected the crowd turnout to be a jam-packed scene in the first three days of competition.
The great demand highlighted by Yusuf stems from the BOG ticket sales on Ticketmate, where fans can purchase a three-day pass with reserve seating at $100.
Fans who have purchased these tickets will be seated at the Jaduram Pavillion.
The Battle of the Giants returns to Labasa after a lapse of 23 years from 2002, where the Babasiga Lions was beaten 1-2 by Nadroga in the grand final.
The opening match will kick off at 12 noon between Ravindra’s Transport Suva and Stratum Construction Nadi.
Lautoka are the defending BOG champion.
