RAVINDRA’S Transport Suva football aims to end their 30-year drought as they gear up for the 2025 Extra Battle of the Giants tournament, which begins today at Subrail Park in Labasa.

The return of the BOG to Labasa after more than a decade has sparked excitement for the competition.

Team president Nitin Singh is pleased with the team’s preparation, noting that they have been training for both the Extra Premier League and this tournament.

“Our preparation is going well, I believe that last week Sunday we finished of the Extra Premier League match, so the preparations were for both of the competitions,” said Singh.

“For our opening match against Nadi, they use to be known as the tournament team, playing with them will be tough, but the boys are prepared to give their best.”

Ever since taking over the club, Singh has been working on rebuilding the team and return Suva to its glory days.

“Last year when I took over the team, the team was already demoted from Fiji FACT when i took over the team, so I’m trying to build this team and slowly this team is coming up.

“The goal has been set, it’s been 30-years Suva hasn’t won a Batlle of the Giants tournament, and we are targeting to chance things around this year and hopefully get a win.

Suva has had success in Labasa before, having won the Fiji FACT in 2020 at the same venue.

“Playing a tournament in Labasa is always an exciting one for Suva, back in 2020 we won the Fiji FACT there so, it’s a happy hunting ground for Suva, and we are looking forward for the playing their.”

The team is calling for support from their fans, asking them to keep Suva FC in their prayers as they strive for victory in the tournament.

Suva will play the opening match of the tournament at 12pm today against Stratum Construction Nadi.

They are in pool B alongside Navua and Rewa.
