A father and son died in a car accident in, Lovu, Lautoka, this morning.
Dead are Vitogo residents Rup Chand, 77, and Rakesh Chand, 52, who lost their lives when the vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road and landed in a creek at Lovu.
Rakesh Chand’s son Ravikesh said the pair were travelling towards Lautoka City when the incident happened around 8am.
“My Dad was taking my grandfather to the Lautoka Hospital for a clinic and to visit my mother who was admitted,” said the 26-year-old.
“I was supposed to go with them, but they told me take the lead because I was going to work.
“I did not expect that would be the last time I would be seeing them alive.”
Mr Chand said a postmortem examination will be carried out on the pair this Friday to ascertain the cause of death.
Police confirmed investigations continue into incident.
