FASANOC’s 2025 Olympic Day Celebrations took place on Saturday, July 26, at Albert Park in Suva and the CAAF Compound in Nadi.

The event ran from 7 in the morning to 12 noon.

The celebration brought together over 250 participants, uniting people of all ages and abilities for a morning filled with sports, learning, and camaraderie.

The day kicked off at 8am with a high-energy “Vuvale Bootcamp” led by the Australian Defence Force (ADF), who not only motivated the crowd but also provided water and refreshments, ensuring everyone was set for the action ahead.

After the bootcamp, participants rotated through stations offering Archery, Athletics & Para Athletics, Badminton, Baseball, Boxing, Golf, Table Tennis, Taekwondo and Weightlifting.

Non-Olympic sports such as Chess, Darts, Karate and Touch Rugby also made appearances with Darts debuting in Suva and Golf making its first showing in Nadi.

Adaptive equipment and modifications ensured inclusivity, enabling everyone to take part and experience the joy of movement.

Each station was staffed by National Federation representatives and Olympians, including Albert Miller and Vaciseva Tavaga at the athletics stations and Angela Birch and Cheyenne Rova helping coordinate the Nadi program.

In addition to physical activities, education and creativity took centre stage. The “Art on the Go” activity invited children to colour Olympic rings, sports images and learning about the Olympic values of Excellence, Respect and Friendship through art and participation.

Face painting was also popular adding fun and colour to the program.

The event also promoted the global “Let’s Move” campaign, encouraging daily physical activity and social connection, echoing the Olympic mission to inspire healthier, more united communities.

All attendees received Olympic Day certificates and wristbands inscribed with Fiji’s NOC logo and the Olympic values.

Young participants received an Olympic Day vest with some lucky enough to take home goodie bags from the ADF.

Despite a drizzle in Suva, the enthusiasm was undampened. Thanks to the support of ADF, local sponsors, NFs, volunteers and Olympians, Olympic Day 2025 was a celebration reminding everyone that sport has the power to bring people together, foster inclusion and create a better world.
