Netball Fiji is thrilled to reveal the 12-member Baby Pearls team that will represent the nation at the upcoming Netball World Youth Cup in Gibraltar from September 19-28.

In preparation for the tournament, the Baby Pearls recently competed in a five-day Invitational tournament where they faced off against two international teams.

This experience not only provided them with a valuable opportunity to hone their skills and test themselves but also allowed the selection panel to carefully assess each player for the final team.

Head coach Simone Nalatu highlighted the extensive and rigorous process that was undertaken to finalise the team selection.

“I’m very happy we have reached the milestone of announcing the team. This has been almost 18months in the making,” said Nalatu.

“I am very happy with our 12 athletes, but I’d also like to acknowledge the contribution and commitment of those other 15 athletes who have been part of our squad pushed for selection.”

“As we are in the business end of our preparations, we are sharpening our focus to ensure we are as ready as possible for the WYC in September,” added Nalatu.

The team has had an extensive preparation period which began last year.

Apart from weekly trainings, camp and competition locally and overseas, the team was also involved in a few teambonding activities that included netball clinics with the local community.

The 12-member squad includes Adi Varanisese Vula, Akisi Bolakoro, Anatolia Nuku, Eseta Waqaira, Hana Sotutu, Lydia Tavesivesi, Mereoni Taqiri, Nina Nakula, Shaid Sasalu, Solei Toganivalu, Susana Rasaubale, and Vilimaina Kagi.
