The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) has charged Sanmogan Naidu, former Principal of Ra High School, and Semi Voresara Nabalarua, Assistant Teacher of Agriculture, with financial misconduct.
The pair appeared before the Rakiraki Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
They face allegations of misappropriating school funds.
Mr Naidu is charged with two counts of Obtaining a Financial Advantage, accused of securing $4,000 between July 1 and July 31, 2020, by authorising payment vouchers from the school’s Free Education Grant (FEG) account, despite knowing he was not entitled to the funds.
Additionally, Mr Naidu and Mr Nabalarua face a joint charge of Obtaining a Financial Advantage, allegedly acquiring $12,484.25 between June 1, 2019, and October 31, 2020, by preparing payment vouchers and cashing cheques from the Vocational Grant account, fully aware they lacked entitlement.
The court granted both accused non-cash bail of $500 each, with strict conditions that they must not re-offend, refrain from interfering with prosecution witnesses, and notify the court of any change in residential address.
The matter has been adjourned to October 1, 2025.
