Tailevu Rugby Union head coach Anare Masi believes that this year will see a transformation in the team, as they gear up for the opening round of the 2025 Skipper Cup competition next weekend.
The team engaged in warm-up matches on Thursday against strong opponents such as defending champions Naitasiri and Suva, providing valuable insight into the challenges that await them in this year’s Skipper Cup.
During these warm-up matches, Coach Masi focused on preparing the players for the entirety of the Skipper Cup season.
“We have had a good six months of off season and pre-season training, we haven’t completed our pre-season yet, we will be completing two sets of our training season to complete our pre-season,” said Masi.
“Our focus today (Thursday) was just to display whatever we have been training, what we have been planning for the last few weeks, the strategies we show in our warm-up matches worked well with the boys.”
Masi emphasised their ultimate goal is to improve their performance and strive for success, the team is aiming to break new ground in the Skipper Cup this year.
“We will be improving more on our strategies before Skipper Cup competition, and we will be also changing a few of our game management plans, before we go into the competition.
“Our main aim and focus this year, as we all know all teams will be aiming on winning the Skipper Cup.
Masi expressed gratitude towards the players for their dedication during training sessions and extended an invitation to the entire Tailevu province to support the team in their quest to improve upon their previous record.
