Residents of Nalawai in Dreketi are raising concerns about the deteriorating road condition in their area, which is causing significant transportation difficulties, especially during the rainy season.

Dhirendra Kumar said the bus service struggles to operate due to the bad road conditions.

“The bus comes here all the time, but the road is in poor condition. During the rainy season, the situation gets even worse. The road becomes so bad that it’s almost impossible to travel,” he said.

The road, Mr Kumar said, which connects the area to key routes, lacks proper gravel and has become nearly impassable during heavy rains.

“There’s no gravel on the road, just mud and holes. It’s a huge problem for anyone trying to get in or out of the village. People get stuck, and it takes hours to clear the way.”

As the budget debate goes on in Parliament today, residents are urging the government to prioritise road repairs, as the poor conditions are affecting daily life.

“It’s been like this for years. We just want a safe, reliable road so we can get to work, the market, and school without worrying about getting stuck in the mud.”

He said fixing the road was a pressing issue for Nalawai residents.
