A massive fire has destroyed the Gokals warehouse building on Amy St in Toorak, Suva reducing parts of the decades-old commercial site to ashes.

The National Fire Authority (NFA) received the alert at approximately 12.30am last night.

Upon arrival, firefighters were met with a fully engulfed structure, with flames rapidly consuming the building.

Despite the intensity of the blaze, adjacent properties, including the Fiji Elections Office (FEO), located right next to the warehouse, were spared from damage, thanks to the swift and coordinated response by multiple fire stations.

The warehouse had long served as the operational and logistics hub for D. Gokals & Co. (Pte) Ltd, one of Fiji’s oldest and most prominent electronics distributors.

The Amy St facility, located at 60-62 Amy St, was central to the company’s supply chain. For decades, the building stood as a landmark of commercial trade in Toorak, serving both retail and distribution functions.

Investigations have begun into the incident.
