MELE Chambers, a Year 13 student at Nadi Muslim College, is taking a solution-based approach while highlighting teenage pregnancy during this week’s FMF Bula Festival.
Ms Chambers is one of 10 contestants participating in the week-long festival which is being held at Nadi’s Koroivolu Park.
Sponsored by Magic Land Rides, the Sanasana, Nadroga native said she decided to apply to be a contestant after seeing an advertisement on social media.
“I saw an advertisement on Facebook and I had interest, so I applied. I believe I have the confidence to be a contestant.”
Ms Chambers said her family is proud of her decision to participate in the festival.
“My parents feel very proud because I was taking the family’s name and representing the sponsor, Magic Land Ride.”
“My classmates were shocked, actually, that I’m one of the contestants.”
Ms Chambers said she had been released for two weeks to accommodate her participation in the festival, however she had managed to carve out time from her busy schedule to complete her schoolwork.
