Cabinet has officially endorsed a comprehensive National Strategy for 5G Spectrum Assignment and Commercial Deployment.
The strategy outlines a structured plan for the rollout of fifth-generation (5G) mobile broadband services across Fiji, focusing on spectrum assignment, a pricing framework, and an operator incentive model to ensure widespread adoption and economic benefits.
The announcement comes as part of the government’s commitment to enhancing Fiji’s digital infrastructure, with 5G poised to deliver transformative advancements in telecommunications.
Unlike its predecessors, 5G offers significantly higher data speeds, ultra-low latency, and the ability to connect a vast number of devices simultaneously, paving the way for innovations in healthcare, education, agriculture, and smart city initiatives.
