NADI Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) president Lawrence Kumar says they are looking to collaborate with the New Zealand-Fiji Business and Australia-Fiji Business councils.

This follows the success of the first networking session with the Fiji-USA Business Council in Nadi last week.

“One thing we have actually started since the new board has come in is that we have taken it upon ourselves that the business houses of Nadi need to collaborate,” he said.

“Even though you can think locally, you need to think globally as well.

“You need to collaborate with organisations in Australia, organisations in New Zealand, and the United States and across the globe, because we have the potential.

“Fiji has the potential and I’m glad that today (last week) we have been able to actually collaborate our resources with the USA-Fiji Business Council and have a guest speaker Steven Okun.

“We will be reaching out to other councils such as New Zealand-Fiji Business Council and Australia-Fiji Business Council to have similar sessions with them.”

Mr Kumar said there was untapped potential in Fiji’s business market.

“We need to be innovative around the way we do the things we do.

“The next five to 10 years will not be business as normal because we have been introduced to the geopolitical climate that we are in, and we need to be prepared.

“We need to think outside the box, and we need to be innovative. We cannot rely on a single sector.

“If I see Fiji has a huge potential in agriculture or mineral resources, we really need to tap into that because the potential is there,” Mr Kumar said.
