Since 2018, one had to walk through muddy sugarcane fieldsto reach the Daulomani Safe Home in Lautoka.
Now thanks to a $40,000 investment by the Ministry for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, a new road can now be used.
Established in 2018 as a haven for the vulnerable, neglected, and homeless, the Home lacked proper road access, forcing women, children, and others to navigate challenging terrain daily.
“The Daulomani Home Access Project is just one of many small yet meaningful steps toward Government’s broader vision of having a Fiji where no one is left behind; where every Fijian, no matter where they live or what challenges they’ve faced, enjoys the same access to opportunity, safety, and services,” said Assistant Minister Jovesa Vocea.
“With this investment comes shared responsibility. Maintain it. Protect it. Make sure this infrastructure continues to serve not just you, but future residents who will one day seek shelter and healing here.”
