FAMILIES, friends, and supporters flooded Nausori in yellow on Saturday for the Yellow Ribbon Walk, showing strong support for inmate rehabilitation and reintegration.
Chief guest Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad praised the Fiji Corrections Service for its commitment to reform.
He thanked the community for turning out in large numbers, calling the event more than symbolic.
“I am extremely delighted to see so many of you today participate in this very, very significant, not just symbolic, but a very meaningful work, an attempt to create a safer, a better and a more compassionate and forgiving society,” Mr Prasad said.
The annual event highlights the importance of second chances and uniting communities behind those seeking to rebuild their lives after prison.
