GOVERNMENT has allocated $10.3 million in the 2025-2026 National Budget to support new film and television productions under Fiji’s ongoing tax rebate program.
While addressing the Committee of Supply on the 2025-2026 Appropriation Bill yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica said the film incentive has two components: one for current and upcoming productions, and another to address outstanding rebate payments from previous years.
“The $10.3m is basically for any upcoming film series in the current year,” Mr Kamikamica said.
“At the moment, you’ve got Survivor Season 48, Standard Honeymoon and Love Island Games Season One. Those are the types of projects that are around.
“The second component is the outstanding film rebate.”
He said the Coalition Government had inherited a rebate liability of about $200m from the previous administration.
“To do away with the excessive rebate levels, we were paying 75 per cent rebates.
“It’s now down to 20 (per cent).”
Mr Kamikamica confirmed there is no immediate payment planned for this financial year, but said the intention is to gradually settle the liability using existing budget provisions.
