INFUSED with a newfound sense of energy, Chinese boxer Runqi Zhou is ready for his main bout showdown against Junior Binnu Singh in the ZEG Kings Boxing Promotions event tonight.
Zhou, who will contest the WBA Oceania Super Bantam Weight Title against Singh, was present at the weigh-in event at Sukuna Park in Suva yesterday.
He said he felt great, more energised and relayed his love for boxing in the country.
“I’m very good, I feel more energy. I like fighting in Fiji,” Zhou told The Fiji Times yesterday.
The boxer, nicknamed the ‘Fist of Fury’, standing at a 170cm with a reach of 64 inches, weighed in yesterday at 55kg.
Zhou was in high spirits at yesterday’s weigh-in and shared his thoughts on how he regarded his opponent going into tonight’s clash in the ring.
“I’m very good, I’m very good. How is Binnu Singh? He is a good boxer but then tomorrow, I think this is a good fight,” he said.
With a record of nine wins, three losses and a draw in the span of nearly five years in the ring, he stated he wanted to give crowds the chance to a thrilling contest.
“I’m not sure but I’ll just do my best and I’ll give everyone a great fight,” he added.
Zhou faces Singh tonight in his second appearance in Fiji, the first being the infamous clash against the late Ubayd Haider, who sustained severe head injuries from the fight that resulted in his death last November.
In that fight, they were contesting the IBA Asia Pacific belt and Zhou won it by way of technical knock-out.
The event will begin at 4.30pm while the professional bouts begin at 6pm at the Vodafone Arena.
