The 2025-2026 national budget was passed by parliament last night in a landslide 36-12 vote.
48 MPs cast their votes at about 10:30pm last night.
The breakdown of the voting result has not been made public on the website of the Parliament of Fiji as of this morning.
Speaker of Parliament, Filimone Jitoko congratulated the Minister of Finance, Prof Biman Prasad on the passing of the budget.
“I previously highlighted this week, long deliberation stands as a cornerstone of our constitutional duty, ensuring transparency, accountability and sound national planning,” he said.
“I extend my sincere appreciation to all the honourable members for your thoughtful engagement throughout the important process. Your contribution has been invaluable.”
“Let me also offer my warm congratulations to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance and Strategic Planning, National Development and Statistics, honourable Professor Biman Prasad for the successful adoption of the budget.”
Parliament sits today to deliberate and pass a number of Bills that were introduced as part of the 2025-2026 budget.
