Matawalu earns degree with top honours in UK

Former Flying Fijian halfback Nikola Matawalu has added another major achievement to his illustrious rugby journey, this time off the field.

The 36-year-old has graduated with a First Class Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Rugby Coaching and Performance from the University of South Wales in the United Kingdom.

Taking to social media to share the news, Matawalu described the three-year academic journey as “incredible” and thanked those who supported him along the way.

“Incredible three-year experience at @unisouthwales @uswrfc,” Matawalu posted. “Vinaka to those that supported me along the way.”

Known for his flair and creativity on the field, Matawalu represented the Flying Fijians in more than 30 Test matches and played for top clubs including Glasgow Warriors, Bath, and London Scottish. His transition from international player to qualified coach marks a new chapter in his rugby career.

The University of South Wales’ Rugby Coaching and Performance degree is highly regarded, combining practical coaching with academic insight.

Matawalu’s achievement of first-class honours speaks volumes of his dedication and adaptability, both on and off the field.
