A contingent of 143 Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) personnel has left Fiji for a year-long deployment to the Golan Heights under the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) mission.

The troops will spend the next 12 months supporting efforts to monitor the ceasefire between Israel and Syria, as part of Fiji’s longstanding role in global peacekeeping operations.

The deployment reaffirms Fiji’s commitment to international peace and security, with the RFMF continuing to play a frontline role in some of the world’s most fragile regions.

Fiji has a proud history of UN peacekeeping involvement dating back to 1978 and continues to be recognised for its service across multiple missions.
