The Biosecurity Authority of Fiji has lifted its December 10, 2024, suspension on personal poultry imports from New Zealand.

This follows confirmation from the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries (NZMPI) that the country is now free from the high pathogenicity avian influenza (HPAI) H7N6 strain that detected in December 2024 at a single commercial egg farm in Otago.

BAF states in the public notice resumption of trade of poultry products from New Zealand under personal allowance can now commence.

“All poultry products allowed to import to Fiji with the personal allowances 10kg per person with supermarket receipt with commercially prepared pack to show that product was originated and purchased from NZ,” said BAF.

“Allow personal importation of poultry products in commercially prepared packs, maximum up to 50Kg per person with BAF import permit and its conditions.”

BAF added all commercial importation of poultry products will facilitate with BAF import permit and its conditions.
