It was a nil-all stalemate for Suva and Nadi in round 12 of the Extra Premier League, contested at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori yesterday.

Both teams were near the other’s goalmouth throughout the match but were unable to properly place the ball between them.

The match was the latest meeting between both teams, their previous one at the 2025 BiC Fiji FACT on June 1, where Suva thrashed Nadi 5-0 in their final pool match.

For the Capital City side, head coach Brian Singh noted the absence of some of their senior players however he commended the team for their performance.

“I think with this game, we had an opportunity to break two young players, that was a 15-year-old (Abraham Chand) and a 16-year-old (Rishal Shankar) and let’s see how we go into the next game,” Singh shared.

Chand and Shankar were two of four new players in yesterday’s match, the other two being 16-year-old Aron Prasad, and 24-year-old Philip Leong.

He added he was aware of the Jetsetters intentions to earn a win in Nausori, following their last meeting at the Fiji FACT.

“I knew they were coming here for a win and then they had done a lot of counters but hats off to my centre, all my links that they worked hard on,” he said.

He emphasised the team would needed to improve on their striking since he observed the team had three opportunities to do so during the match.

Meanwhile for Nadi, head coach Viliame Toma acknowledged the level of competition exhibited by the men in white.

“We came for three points. Playing Suva is always hard so for us to take one point, it’s good enough,” Toma said.

“We came prepared, they (Suva) got some national players and we came prepared.”

He attributed his side’s level of fitness as a positive observation during the game.

“Fitness wise, I think we were better than them and the boys created some opportunities which were good for us.”

He added the team would need to refine its level of defence ahead of their round 13 clash against Nadroga this week.
