A 52-year-old man has been jailed for 5 years and 11 months imprisonment after being found guilty of aggravated robbery.

Simeli Biau had stolen assorted jewellery, laptop, black amazon fire tablet with magnetic case, rip curl watch, car key and assorted cards from Feroza Ahmed on January 5, 2020, in Lautoka.

“Mr. Biau you cannot be forgiven for what you have done there is no short cut you must earn with your hard work,” said Acting Judge, Justice Sekonaia Vodokisolomone in his June 30 ruling.

“What you did was a daring nighttime robbery after much planning. Greed for money has taken you away from your family, you should be ready to face the consequences of your deeds.”

“You should be ashamed of yourself.”

Justice Vodokisolomone said the court will be failing in its duty if a custodial sentence is not imposed.

“No amount of regret or repentance will save you from a custodial sentence.”

The judge set a non-parole period of 4 years.
