TEAM Fiji’s track queen Heleina Young scooped the Outstanding Female Athlete award at the 2025 Pacific Mini Games which concluded in Koror, Palau on Wednesday evening.
The former Queensland Reds winger won three gold and two silver medals both in individual and team event.
She won gold in the women’s 200m, 400m and the 4x400m relay.
Young who also represented the Fijiana 7s team claimed silver in the mixed 4x400m relay and the women’s 4x100m relay.
In Fiji, she currently sits at number two all-time in the women’s 100m with a time of 11.82s.
She has also been elevated to number two and number five all-time in the 200 and 400m given her impressive personal and season’s bests performance of 24.01s and 56.07s respectively.
In the men’s category, Team Samoa’s weightlifter John Tafi was awarded the overall Outstanding Male Athlete.
He won three gold medals and set three new records.
The 23-year-old broke three Oceania records by lifting a total of 305kg, 169kg in the clean and jerk and 139kg in the snatch.
