The Blue Gas Navua football side moved to third spot on the Extra Premier League standings with a commanding 2-nil lead over Nadroga yesterday.
With Ba being held to a 1-all draw a day earlier by Suva, Navua went into the match knowing a win could see them move up to third spot.
Nadroga started well with Siotama Kubu applying pressure on the Navua defence.
Kolinio Sivoki opened the scoring for the home side placing a free kick from outside the penalty box.
Navua doubled the lead just before halftime when the Nadroga keeper fouled an attacker inside the penalty box.
Jared Rongolisua made no mistakes from the spot as Navua led 2-nil at halftime.
Nadroga came out firing in the second spell making a few positional changes.
Semesa Sacere was moved into attack from defence who proved a force to be reckoned with.
However, Navua defence stood tall and kept a clean sheet.
In other matches, Lautoka also moved to 18 points on the ladder and into fourth position after a 2-nil win against Nasinu.
Sakaraia Naisua and Sitiveni Cavuilagi scored for the Blues in the win at Nadi’s Prince Charles Park.
Nadi defeated Tavua 2-1. On Saturday, Ba and Suva drew 1-1.
France Catarogo struck first for Ba in the 44th minute, but Ramzan Khan equalised for Suva in the second half to share the spoils in a hard-fought clash.
