Police arrested a man at the jetty in Tubou this morning after dried leaves, believed to be Marijuana was found in his suitcase.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed this.
“The suspect has been taken to the police station in Lakeba.”
The arrest was made by officers deployed for the special operations on the island.
Fiji Police has deployed officers from the Fiji Detector Dog Unit, Police Mobile Force (PMF) and Central Division to the island.
Seized was a clear plastic containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana. The suspect is in custody and the seized substances will be sent for analysis.
Operations continue on the island.
Police presence at the jetty has increased due to the influx of people to the island ahead of the Tui Nayau installation.
