Fiji national footballer Tevita Waranivalu has been named interim head coach of Rewa football after the departure of Rodicks Singh.

The club announced the appointment on its social media pages, saying the decision came after talks with the Board and senior members of the Rewa football community.

Waranivalu is well known in local football for his leadership and passion for the game.

He now takes charge of the Delta Tigers as they enter an important stage of their 2024 season.

Assistant coach Priyant Manu will stay in his role to help bring stability to the team. Club captain Setareki Hughes will continue to lead the players on the field.

Rewa said there is no rush to hire a permanent head coach.

“As a club, we will not rush into appointing a permanent coach. Instead, we will take each match as it comes and trust in the capabilities of our current leadership group,” the club stated.

The management also showed strong support for Waranivalu and his team.

“We believe they have what it takes to guide our Tigers forward,” the club said.

Waranivalu’s first big test will be this Sunday when Rewa faces Labasa in a top-of-the-table clash at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

A win could put Rewa at the top of the Extra Premier League standings.

This new role marks a big step for Waranivalu as he moves from player to coach.

Fans will be watching closely to see how he leads the team during this transition.

Rewa football is hoping that the experience and unity of their leadership group will help the Tigers stay strong in the title race.
