The inter-house competition of Church Primary School of Fiji (LDS) saw a participation of over 250 students, which was held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva yesterday.
Excitement filled the air as parents cheered on their children during the track and field events.
Vice Principal Panapasa Ratuvukivuki expressed gratitude for the large turnout, with more than 250 out of the school’s 315 students taking part in the competition.
This marked an increase in the number of participating athletes compared to the previous year.
“We have more athletes that are taking part in the competition this year, compared to last year, which is something great to see,” said Ratuvukivuki.
Ratuvukivuki highlighted the benefits of such competitions in promoting students’ health and fitness, as well as providing a platform for them to showcase their athletic abilities.
“We are so thankful that we can ger the students out of the classroom to come and enjoy the competition, which will benefit for their health and to keep them fit.
“We have also identified few of our athletes, that we will be taking for the zone and the 2025 Fiji Primary School Athletics Championship and getting them well prepared for the competition ahead.”
He adds with plans to send a contingent of 35 to 40 athletes for these competitions, the school is optimistic about their chances of securing medals and making a mark in the sporting arena.
Ratuvukivuki emphasised the importance of preparing students for both track and field events to maximize their chances of success.
“We will be focusing both on field and track this year, winning few medals for the school with be a big achievement.”
He expressed gratitude to all those involved in the preparation and to the parents that came in numbers to support their children.
The 2025 Fiji Primary School Athletics Championship will be held in term 3.
