PNG PM Marape arrives in Fiji for key MSG summit

Papua New Guinea’s Prime Minister James Marape arrived in Nausori this afternoon to attend the Melanesian Spearhead Group meeting tomorrow.

He was met by the Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Fiji Mrs Kiti Temo and PNG’s Acting High Commissioner to Fiji Mr Bill Olmi.

Fiji is set to take over the chairmanship of the MSG in a traditional handover ceremony on Monday with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka receiving the leadership mantle at the Bose Levu Vakaturaga Grounds.

The MSG comprises Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and FLNKS.

The Melanesian Spearhead Group plays a critical role in advancing political, economic and cultural cooperation in the region.
