First time entrants, the Nabua Broncos women’s rugby league team achieved a remarkable victory over the Veiyasani Knights with a score of 16-12 in the Fiji National Rugby League women’s (FNRLW) competition at Bidesi grounds in Suva yesterday.

Making their debut in the competition, the Broncos have quickly established themselves as a formidable force to be reckoned with as the season progresses.

Head coach Ledua Volaukimoce expressed his pride in the team’s performance, stating.

“I am truly proud of the girls; they consistently show their determination to succeed in this competition.” Said Volaukimoce.

“Being our first time playing in this season, the girls have really shown the passion they have for the sport, and the spirit to learn more.”

Despite facing challenges such as the lack of sponsorship and having to personally cover their transportation costs, the players continue to exhibit a strong passion for the sport and a willingness to learn and improve.

“We have no sponsors for the team, most of these girls must pay their own bus fare to come and play, that shows how much these girls love the sport.”

Reflecting on the match, Volaukimoce acknowledged the team’s potential for growth in areas such as communication but commended their resilience and team spirit which ultimately secured the victory.

He expressed gratitude to the supporters, including parents and fans, for their encouragement and noted that the win was dedicated to them.
