The Rotary Club of Suva Charity Golf Day is not just about showcasing golfing skills, but also about raising funds for a meaningful cause.

This year, over 120 participants took part yesterday in the biggest golf event held annually at the Fiji golf course in Vatuwaqa.

The president of the Rotary Club of Suva, Laisa Digitaki, expressed gratitude for the generous sponsorship of all 18 holes by corporate organisations from across Fiji.

“We were expecting this number of participants this year, as we can see there are more than 120 players taking part, as in previous years,” said Digitaki.

“Our club’s major project during my presidential year is the revitalisation of the Cardiac Unit Cath Lab and its staff working tools and spaces at CWM Hospital that we started in 2009.

“That’s where our hard working local and overseas volunteer doctors and nurses do heart stent procedures, pacemaker implantation, abiation, angiogram, angioplasty and other complicating congenital heart disease.”

Digitaki extended her thanks to the sponsors for their continued support, emphasising the impact of their contributions in assisting the people of Fiji.

Women’s Golf Fiji president, Susie Yee, shared her experience participating in the tournament for several years, highlighting the competitive yet charitable nature of the event.

“I have been playing for this tournament few years now, it’s a really great competition for charity and I’m grateful to be part of it,” said Yee.

She noted the presence of new players this year, adding to the excitement of the competition.

Yee expressed her gratitude for being a part of such a meaningful event and encouraged everyone to enjoy the sport of golf while supporting a worthy cause.
