Rewa supporter Rhythum Kumar made the journey from Waila, Nausori to the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva to support the Ajay Trading sponsored side in the final of the 2025 BiC Fiji FACT yesterday.
Kumar was with other die-hard Rewa and Labasa supporters at the concourse area of the grandstand when this newspaper caught up with him.
He fondly recalled his younger days of seeing the Delta Tigers strut their stuff at their home turf of Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori and how it forged a deep love for the team when taking in the vibrant atmosphere of banter and cheering at the time.
“Back then we used to be really crazy. Back then it was more of whistling and the atmosphere was electric and it’s still electric,” Kumar recalled.
The Rewa supporter turned up to watch the team’s pool matches and even their semi-final clash against Stratum Construction Suva FC.
He shared how he felt seeing Rewa bounce back into the competition after their 0-1 defeat by Paradise Seafood Supplies Lautoka FC in their final Group A pool match.
“They slipped back in; that was nice. I would say that they played very well yesterday (Saturday). The game was electrifying between Suva and Rewa, both Southern teams,” he recalled.
“They fought hard, they basically gave it their all.”
Since the match had not kicked off yet when he was interviewed, he acknowledged the presence of Labasa fans, out in full force and making a sea of red.
“I would say that the atmosphere is great, the Labasa fans have really made it the best experience ever,” he said.
Meanwhile, Rewa would lose 1-3 to Labasa in the final by way of a penalty shootout last night.
