NESTLED on the sunny side of Viti Levu, Duadua Beach Resort in Rakiraki is a haven for those in pursuit of profound leisure.

Away from the hustle and bustle, the resort offers a peaceful environment for guests to unwind and enjoy the tranquility of island life.

The island resort offers its guests with a 360-degree view of both the ocean and rolling hills – displaying the best of what Fiji has to offer.

Duadua, like many resorts and villas on that stretch of the bay, allows its guest to indulge in daily beautiful sunrise and sunsets.

The resort rooms allow uninterrupted views of the ocean and beautiful hills in the distance.

Resort manager, Adi Ubianalaca Winifereti Waqatabu said Duadua Beach Resort Fiji was established in 2018 and has been operating for seven years.

The resort has 24 rooms with more than 60 staff working to provide the best service to guests.

“One thing that makes us stand out is that we are situated away from the main road with an exceptional beach and hill view,” Waqatabu said.

“Our guests love the view from their rooms.”

While the resort has great features like its swimming pool, the highlight for guests is usually the water and village activities.

“Our guests enjoy the diving activities and there are friendly staff to always assist them when they want to go for a dive.

The resort offers island transfers, island discovery trips, snorkeling trips and fishing as well.

There are Blight Waters and Vatu-i-Ra Passage dives.

For the Blight Waters dive, guests can enjoy and swim with an array of neon-coloured fish, schooling barracudas and sharks. Mantas, dolphins and pilot whales are regular visitors and during the mid-year humpback whales can be spotted during their annual migration.

“We do kayak, fish feeding, snorkeling, scuba diving, dolphin watching and fishing (both trawling and handline).

“Guests always look forward to our village tours, our Nabalasere waterfall tour and the Narara waterslide tour.

The village tours are to Nakorokula, Rakiraki, Narara and Malake Island. Guests also get the opportunity to attend a Sunday church service.

Waqatabu said interactions with the locals offered guests an amazing cultural experience.

“They get to experience the culture, the food and just the authentic Fijian way of life,” she said.

“We do weddings, engagements, conferences, meeting, birthday parties, launches and year-end parties at our event centre.

There are also a lot of things that are complimentary for our guests during their stay.

“We have intercontinental breakfast, Wi-Fi, some water activities and a 15-minute boat ride that are complimentary.”

The resort is not only a go-to for tourists who want to escape to the western part of Fiji. It has become a sought-after resort for locals.

Even though the resort is just a few minutes’ drive away from Rakiraki Town, its snug location off Volivoli Rd allows guests to enjoy peace and quiet without the distraction and hubbub of city life.
