Concentration towards their physical training is what the Stratum Construction Suva football team has been working on in the lead-up to the 2025 BiC Fiji FACT this week.
This, according to team president Nitin Singh who remains optimistic of what his side will pull off when the tournament kicks off this Friday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
“Preparation has been good under the guidance of our coach and this week (last week) we’ve been mostly looking into the physical training,” Singh explained.
He shared this while observing the team train at the Buckhurst Grounds in Laucala Bay, Suva.
Despite gaining automatic qualification to the tournament, Suva finished in the top eight of the Extra Premier League. Various results in previous rounds have placed Suva on alert for what will come their way this weekend.
“The competition in the Extra Premier League was very tough in the first round and all teams I believe come prepared when they come for big tournaments like this,” Singh emphasised.
While he is hopeful of the team’s chances at the Fiji FACT, being the host side comes with its fair share of pressure and anticipation.
“Of course, when we have tournaments on our home soil, expectations from the fans are always high,” the president explained.
“I just request all the fans out there, please do come out in numbers, wear white and support the boys. Cheer up the boys and definitely, the boys will do well in the field.”
Meanwhile, Suva has won the Fiji FACT three times – in 1995, 2020 and 2022 – and was the runner-up in 1994, 2004, 2014, 2016 and 2019.
They meet Labasa in their first match at 7pm on Friday.
Fixtures for day one: 12.30pm – Nadi v Nadroga, 2.30pm – Navua v Lautoka, 4.30pm – Rewa v Ba, 7pm – Suva v Labasa.
