Taveuni lass Alfreda Fisher took home the 2025 Rooster Chicken Women’s Player of the Year over the weekend marking the end of sensational rookie season for the 20-year-old.

Fisher, who hails from Togo, Qamea, in Taveuni, received the trophy during the 2025 Drua Presentation Night at the Sofitel Resort and Spa in Nadi.

She said the win was a culmination of hard work and the support she received from her coaching staff, teammates and family.

“I have to thank God firstly for giving me this talent and my coaches for supporting me this season.

“I was not really expecting this, and I did not even know the coaches to pick me as the women’s player of the year, but I am very grateful.

“I did not expect any of this.

“I want to dedicate this award to my Dad because today is his birthday.”

In a statement, her club congratulated her for a stella season.

“In her rookie season, Fisher stood out for her stellar performances and leadership on and off the field,” the statement said.

“Her efforts have seen her now handed the captaincy of the Vodafone Fijiana team.

“We are all extremely proud of her amazing success! Ladies and gentlemen please be upstanding to honour our Rooster Chicken Women’s Player of the Year.”
