Second police officer from Counter Narcotics Bureau charged in 4.8kg meth bust case

Another police officer based at the Counter Narcotics Bureau has been charged in relation to the alleged unlawful importation of about 4.8 kilograms of methamphetamine into Fiji.

The drugs were seized during a joint operation with the Fiji Police Force and the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service last Friday.

“The accused in his 30s has been charged with one count of Unlawful Importation of Illicit Drugs; Contrary to Section 5 (b) of the Illicit Drugs Act, 2004 and will be produced at the Nadi Magistrates Court today,” said Fiji Police Force.

Six people have now been charged by the Criminal Investigations Department’s Major Crime Unit.

Already charged in this case are suspended police officer Apenisa Matadigo, Viliame Nalago, Are Tania, Neumi Donumainasawa and Nigerian national Chukwuemeka Phabian.
