The Fiji Senior Golfers Association (FSGA) was victorious in the annual Roger Probert Challenge Trophy, emerging triumphant over Fiji Golf Club’s (FGC) Young Bucks with a scoreline of 315-274 points at the Vatuwaqa course in Suva on Saturday.
The tournament, held in honor of the late Roger Probert, who founded Ready Gas in Fiji in 1956, saw 62 golfers in attendance, making it a special day for all participants.
Roger Probert, born on March 19, 1917, married Lesley Harvie in 1948 and was a proud parent to three children – Harvie, Lyndall, and Merran.
A member of the Lautoka Golf Club, Roger represented the Western team in the annual East versus West clash in the Sugar City.
Women’s Golf Fiji president Susie Yee expressed her satisfaction with the turnout and success of the competition, highlighting the fantastic weather and the support from Fiji Gas as sponsors.
Yee extended her gratitude to all the participants for their presence despite the adverse weather conditions in preceding weeks.
The winners of the tournament are as follows: In the Ladies category, Susan Yee claimed the top spot with 33 points, followed by Lyndall Fisher in second place with 30 points on a countback, and Kamini Singh securing the third position with 27 points.
For the Men’s division, Nathan Kirk emerged as the champion with 41 points, while Semiti Raikuna and Russell Gibson secured the second and third positions with 39 and 38 points, respectively.
Qoriniasi Bale also finished in fourth place with 38 points.
