THE Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management has completed the upgrade and enhancement of government quarters for district officers (DOs) stationed in Nadarivatu.

The station was among the most geographically remote in Fiji and the upgrades were critical to supporting the welfare of staff members stationed there, who played a key role in delivering government services and coordinating disaster response efforts in remote communities. The upgraded residence will not only improve the living standards of the officers but also support them in effectively delivering essential government services to their communities.

With a combined investment of around $0.5million by the Coalition Government as part of ongoing efforts to improve government presence in some of Fiji’s most remote locations, the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management had been upgrading government quarters for DOs stationed in Nadarivatu and Rotuma.

In addition, the ministry was also in the process of working with the contractors in the Northern and Eastern divisions for the enhancement and upgrade of quarters, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring the welfare of civil servants serving in our rural and maritime communities.
