The Coalition Government will work towards bolstering the partnership between the private and public sector to ensure Rotuma is able to accommodate various types of economic activities on the island.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka said this while opening the Rotuma Day celebrations at Ahau Government Station.

He says that this measure will help revitalise Rotuma’s rural economy and raise standards of living on the island.

“I wish to inform you all today that your government has a vision for Rotuma,” he said.

Mr Rabuka said he saw Rotumans as strong and resilient, “over countless times, managed to punch above your weight”.

“This is why despite the numerous challenges that you face, I believe that there is a better future for Rotuma.”

He said the Rotuma Day celebration was a day not only for Rotumans, but for all Fijians who had come to appreciate and respect Rotumans to the betterment of Fiji as a whole.

Rotuma District Officer Luke Sava said they were honoured to have the presence of Mr Rabuka and other dignitaries.
