The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) said an “administrative oversight” resulted in 32 individuals turned away from entering the Basic Recruit Raining Course at the Force Training Group on Saturday.
RFMF said the course can only accommodate 151 recruits while the names of 183 successful applicants were publicised.
“We acknowledge that an administrative oversight led to the announcement and publication of 183 successful applicants, despite FTG having the capacity to accommodate only 151 recruits,” said the RFMF.
“This regrettable error has caused confusion and disappointment, particularly for the 32 individuals who reported to camp but were later advised that they could not be accommodated due to capacity constraints.”
The RFMF said it “deeply regrets this situation.”
“We understand the personal sacrifices made, including the long distances travelled — often from outer islands — to attend training, only to be turned away.”
RFMF said the 32 affected individuals will be given first priority in the next Basic Recruit Training Course, scheduled for August 2025.
“These individuals will not be required to reapply and will retain their previously passed medical board clearances.”
“We encourage all affected individuals to maintain their physical fitness and continue to refrain from the use of illegal substances, as these remain essential criteria for enlistment.”
