A month has been given to parties involved in the case of former Telecom Fiji Ltd and Amalgamated Telecom Holdings board member Sanjay Kaba to discuss and finalise the agreed facts.
Mr Kaba, who is accused of obtaining a financial advantage of more than $700,000, appeared before Magistrate Charles Ratakele at the Suva Magistrate’s Court last week.
He is alleged to have engaged in bidding for a tender through his company, Houng Lee Kaba Jacob Ltd (HLK Jacob), to provide project management services for TFL’s new office and data centre project.
As a result, he allegedly obtained $766,327.22 between June 2022 and July 2023.
It’s further alleged he knew HLK Jacob Ltd was not eligible to receive the financial advantage because he failed to declare his interest as director of the company.
Meanwhile, FICAC prosecutor Lillian Mausio will call 10 witnesses during the trial proper. A trial date will be fixed at the next court session.
Mr Kaba’s bail was extended and the case adjourned to June 27.
